What is Mohs Surgery?

Mohs surgery — named after the dermatologist who invented it — is a highly effective, gold-standard treatment for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. Because of his extensive Mohs surgery training Dr. James Quertermous performs all Mohs surgeries at Beaird Dermatology, so you can be confident you're in expert hands.
During your procedure, Dr. Quertermous removes any cancerous cells as well as a small surrounding layer of skin. He then evaluates your tissue under a microscope while you wait and ensures that no cancer cells remain.
