Complete Skin Exams:

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. So, getting a routine skin check every year is just as important as an annual exam with your Primary Care Physician. During your exam, we will take your personal and family history then look you over head to toe, from the soles of your feet all the way up to your scalp. We do remove suspicious lesions during this time and send for pathology for testing.

Types of Skin Cancer:

Basal Cell Carcinoma:

The most common type of skin cancer. They develop after years of frequent sun exposure or indoor tanning. BCC's are common on the head, neck and arms, however they can form anywhere on the body.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma:

The second most common type of skin cancer. They tend to form on skin that gets sun exposure, such as the rim of the ear, face, neck, arms, chest and back. SCC's can develop from a precancerous skin growth called an Actinic Keratosis.

Melanoma:

The most serious form of skin cancer because of its ability to spread to other organs more rapidly if not treated at an early stage. Melanomas can be caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight or tanning beds. Melanomas can be treated successfully if it is detected early. Knowing the ABCDE warning signs of melanoma can help you find an early detection.
