Seema Apichai, MD

Dr. Apichai is a board-certified dermatopathologist and anatomic pathologist. She joined Beaird Dermatology as their in-house dermatopathologist in 2020. Dr. Apichai draws on her extensive dermatopathology experience to provide accurate diagnoses, which helps the practice's clinicians identify the best course of treatment for our patients. In each case she utilizes the clinical history, description of the lesion, and clinical picture(s) along with the histology to develop clear cut and precise pathology reports. Dr. Apichai strongly believes in a collaborative team approach to patient care and works closely with the practice's clinicians to discuss complex cases to ensure a precise diagnosis. Dr. Apichai is also an expert in laboratory development and management and was instrumental in establishing the practice's in-house laboratory and serves as the laboratory's manager. Her expertise, direction, and attention to detail ensures our laboratory delivers the highest quality dermatopathology slides and patient care.

Dr. Apichai received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago with the highest distinction from the honors program and earned her medical degree through the University's College of Medicine's prestigious Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions in 2005. After fulfilling her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Dr. Apichai traveled to Dallas, Texas, to complete her fellowship in dermatopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her professional affiliations include the American College of Pathologists, American Academy of Dermatology, Chicago Dermatological Society, Chicago Medical Society, and American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Apichai has coauthored and collaborated in several publications and medical presentations. She is an avid reader and is up to date on the latest findings and advancements in dermatopathology.
