Winter Skincare Tips

The temperature has officially dropped outside causing your skin to get dry. Beaird Dermatology has winter skincare tips to help keep your skin hydrated during the winter months.

  1. Switch to a hydrating, gentle cleanser.

We recommend a gentle, foaming cleanser or milky cleanser that won’t strip away too much moisture.

OTC Products: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser Creamy Formula

Professional Products: Epionce Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Epionce Milk Lotion Cleanser, Alastin Gentle Cleaner

  1. Try a Cream based moisturizer, rather than a Lotion.

Light lotions are great for the spring and summer months when the air is moist. During the winter months, we recommend trading it out for a richer cream-based moisturizer to lock in the moisture to your skin.

OTC Products: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, Neutrogena Hydro boost Cream, La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair Face Moisturizer

Professional Products: Epionce Renewal Facial Cream, Alastin Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer, Epionce Intensive Nourishing Cream

  1. Make sure to keep your lips hydrated.

The skin on our lips is thin, causing them to lose moisturizer quicker. We recommend hydrating the area throughout the day to avoid chapped, dry lips.

OTC Products: Aquaphor, Vaseline

  1. Skip steaming hot showers & opt for warm water.

Hot water can actually dry and irritate the skin further as they damage the keratin cells on the outer later of the skin. Damaging those cells prevents them from locking in moisture. During the winter, take shorter, warm showers and hydrate the skin with lotion immediately after.

OTC Products: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, Neutrogena Hydro boost Cream

Professional Products: Epionce Renewal Body Lotion

  1. Still wear your SPF daily!

Your skin still needs protection from the sun during all the seasons. Even on cloudy days, you can still get sun damage. Making SPF apart of your morning skincare routine is highly recommended.

OTC Products: CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen, Elta MD UV Clear Sunscreen

Professional Products: ISDIN Eryfotana Actinica, ISDIN Ageless, Alastin HydraTint Mineral Sunscreen
